We are in the heart of the Land of Remorse, which is an elective region for tarantism. This historical-religious phenomenon originated in the Middle Ages and has continued to exist over time. The feast of SS. Peter and Paul is celebrated here, where the tarantati from the various Salento villages gather at the Chapel of San Paolo to express their gratitude for being healed or to seek the Saint’s help. This journey takes us through a society where mystical and religious elements have merged to become an integral part of the local culture for centuries.
